LEOSA HR-218 Annual Re-qualification
Course Length: 2 Hours                                           Course Cost: $75

Prerequisite: Be a qualifed retired law enforcment officer who meets the criteria outlined in the Law Enforcment Officer Safety Act, HR-218.

Security Officer Core Subjects (01E)

Course Length: 18 Hours                                           Course Cost: $130

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Topics covered: Virginia Law and Regulations, Ethics, Courtroom Procedures, Security Patrol, Access Control, Communications, Report Writing, Emergency Procedures, Confrontation Management.


Armed Security Officer Course Package Deal with 01E, 05E and 07E
Course Length: 5 Consecutive Days                              Course Cost: $385

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Note: In order to receive the package price, all three (3) courses must be paid for on the first day of the first class. All three (3) courses must be taken within the same 30 day period to count as a package. Military discount does not apply to this package.


Private Investigator (02E)

Course Length: 60 Hours  (5 Consecutive Days)           Course Cost: $800

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Topics covered: Virginia Law and Regulations, Ethics, Evidence and Privacy Requirements, Surveillance, Research and Interviewing. Report Preparations; Audio Recording, Photography and Courtroom Testimony. Types of Investigations: Accident; Background; Domestic; Undercover; Fraud; Missing Persons and Property; and Criminal.

Please note, if you are a former law enforcement officer or investigator and applying for a training course waiver, DCJS requires at least 30 days to process your waiver request. Prior to attending and participating in any partial training courses, you must present GSE with your DCJS waiver letter prior to or on the first day of the training; otherwise, GSE is not authorized to certify any partial training session for you. Of course, you may attend the entire course and full certification will be provided upon meeting the course completion requirements.

Security Canine Handler (04E)
Course Length: 12 Hours                                             Course Cost: $175

Perquisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident of alien the United States. Successful completion of Security Officer Core Subjects (01E).Successful completion of basic obedience training.

Topics Covered: Legal Liability, Use of Force, Canine Medical Care, Record Keeping, Patrol Equipment, Area / Building Search, Perimeter Patrols, Crowd Control, Gate and Access Control, Proper Training Techniques and Problem Solving.

This course requires a minimum of four (4) students.

 

Arrest Power, Policies and Procedures (05E)
Course Length: 8 Hours                                              Course Cost: $100

Perquisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident of alien the United States. Successful completion of Security Officer Core Subjects (01E).

Topics Covered: Arrest Powers, Polices and Procedures.

This course requires a minimum of two (2) students.


Special Conservator of the Peace (06E)

Course Length: 24 Hours                                             Course Cost: $300

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Topics Covered: Virginia Law and Regulations, Ethics, Legal Procedures/Due Process, Criminal Law and Constitutional Law, Use of Force/Liability Issues, Arrest Warrant/Virginia Uniform Summons Procedures, Rules of Evidence and Court Room Testimony.


Handgun (07E)

Course Length: 14 Hours                                             Course Cost: $200

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Topics Covered: Firearm Care and Maintenance. Civil/Criminal Liability, Firearm Retentions and Storage, Deadly Force, Range Safety, Principles of Marksmanship, Firearms Handling and Safety, Judgmental Shooting, Low Light Shooting Familiarization.


DCJS Firearms Package Deal with 07E, 08E and 09E
Course Length: 5 Consecutive Days                                Course Cost: $625

Advanced Handgun (09E)

Course Length: 24 Hours                                               Course Cost: $425

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States. Successful completion of Handgun (07E).

Topics Covered: Proper Care and Maintenance, Civil/Criminal Liability, Weapon Retention, Deadly Force, Range Safety, Practical Firearms Handling, Principles of Marksmanship, Decision-Making for the Personal Protection Specialist.

This course requires a minimum of four (4) students.


DCJS Approved Alternate Instructor Development Course (13E)

Course Length: 5 Days                                                  Course Cost: $500

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Three years (3) of managerial or supervisory experience in a private security services business, a federal, state, or local law-enforcement agency, or in a related field.

OR

Five years (5) experience in a private security services business, with a federal, state or local law-enforcement agency, or in a related field.

Topics Covered: The Adult Learner, The Instructor Role, Lesson Preparation, Teaching Methodologies, Technical Knowledge, Public Speaking, Research and Development, Time and Classroom Management Skills, VA DCJS Codes and Regulations (Administrative Code), Presentation and Application.

Note: This is an approved alternate General Instructor Development course to VA DCJS 13E. This course requires a minimum of five (5) students. This course also requires a non-refundable 25% deposit upon registering. DCJS Approved Alternate Firearms Instructor Course (14E)
Course Length: 5 Days                                                  Course Cost: $550

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States. Successful completion of Handgun (07E).

You can enroll in the course without first being certified as a general instructor. However, you cannot be certified as a firearms instructor without first being certified as a general instructor.

Topics Covered: The Instructor Role, Technical Knowledge, VA DCJS Codes and Regulations, Presentation and Application, Range Presence, Range Commands, Semi-Automatic Firing Drills, Revolver Firing Drills, Shotgun Firing Drills and Range Safety.

Note: This is an approved alternate General Firearms Instructor course to VA DCJS 14E. This course requires a minimum of five (5) students. This course also requires a non-refundable 25% deposit upon registering. If we do not meet the minimum number of students required 7 days out from the first day of class, the course will be canceled and we will refund all deposits paid.


Personal Protection Specialist (32E)
Course Length: 72 Hours (6 Consecutive Days)             Course Cost: $1,800

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Topics Covered: Personal Protection Orientation, Virginia Code and DCJS Regulations, Assessment of Threat and Protectee Vulnerability, Legal Authority and Civil Law, Protective Detail Operations, Emergency First Aid, CPR, Advances, Surveillance Detection and Defensive Preparedness.

Note: This course requires a minimum of six (6) students. This course also requires a non-refundable 25% deposit upon registering. If we do not meet the minimum number of students required 7 days out from the first day of class, the course will be canceled and we will refund all deposits paid.


Personal Protection Specialist (32E) with Lodging
Course Length: 72 Hours (6 Consecutive Days)                 Course Cost: $1,975

Prerequisite: Be a minimum of 18 years old and a United States Citizen or legal resident alien of the United States.

Lodging Package: Lodging for 7 nights is included at Quality Inn Winchester, Virginia.  This is based on double-occupancy.  Check-in night prior to first day of class and check-out day after last day of class. Females will be lodged with other females, unless attending with a spouse.
