GSE K-9 Personal Protection Training
Course Length: 7 Days
Course Cost: $2,625 + Transportation, lodging and meals at your location.
Prerequisite: A dog of suitable temperament and drive. Dogs will be evaluated by our instructors prior to the start of training.
Course Description: This course is designed to teach both handler and dog the basic principles of K-9 personal protection. Dog teams will be taught K-9 protection techniques, problem solving, and the principles of developing and maintaining a personal protection dog using a combination of classroom and hands-on instruction. Upon completion, dog teams will be able to successfully initiate K-9 aggression with a verbal command and stop K-9 aggression with a verbal command in the home, automobile and outside while on leash only.
Topics Covered: Methods of Protection Dog Training, What Protection Dogs Can and Can Not Do, Trained vs. Not Trained, Liabilities and Legalities of Owning a Protection Dog, Obedience & Social Requirements for the Protection Trained Dog, Leash Control & Proper Handling, Types of Canine Aggression (Drives), Stimulating Canine Aggression the Art of Agitation, Problem Solving, Proofing Exercises, Body Language & Reading Your Dog and Teaching & Maintaining Control.
GSE K-9 Scent detection Training
Course Length: 14 Days
Course Cost: $4,725 + Transportation, lodging and meals at your location. 1 to 8 dogs.
Prerequisite: A dog of suitable temperament and drive. Dogs will be evaluated by our instructors prior to the start of training.
Course Description: This course is designed to teach both handler and dog the basic principles of sent detection. Dog teams will be taught scent detection techniques, problem solving, and the principles of developing a training program using a combination of classroom and hands-on instruction. Upon completion, dog teams will be able to successfully indicate on six different odors and complete the following search patterns Lockers, boxes and luggage, doors and rooms, vehicles, outdoor area and plane and bus interior.
Topics Covered: Methods of Sent Dog Training, Safety & Storage for Training Aids, Rewards, Placement & Thresholds of Aids, Leash Control & Search Patterns, Conditioning the Indication, Fringe Alerts, Problem Solving, Proofing Exercises, Sent Theory & a Dog’s Nose, Body Language & Reading Your Dog, Air Current/ Air Flow and Maintaining Training Records.
GSE K-9 Tracking Through Drive
Course Length: 14 Days
Course Cost: $4,725 + Transportation, lodging and meals at your location. 1 to 6 dogs.
Prerequisite: A dog of suitable temperament and drive. Dogs will be evaluated by our instructors prior to the start of training.
Course Description: This course is designed to teach both handler and dog the basic principles of tracking through drive. Dog teams will be taught tracking techniques, problem solving, and the principles of developing a tracking training program using a combination of classroom and hands-on instruction. Upon completion, dog teams will be able to successfully complete an unknown query assisted 1.5 mile track aged 30 minutes with 4 articles, 4 turns, 1 back track, and 2 road crossings.
Topics Covered: Types of Tracking, Sent, Environmental Factors, Beginning Track Laying, Types of tracks, Tracking Exercise, Distractions, Corrections, Tactics for Track Loss, Dog Selection and Equipment.
